YUU: left-hand clapping

The YUU system epitomizes the Zen principle.

A principle that encapsulates the idea of totally clearing one's mind to be at one with nature, with the cosmos. Picturally, it most often translates as an unfinished curve traced by a human with one stroke of the pen. In the YUU system the Zen principle is embodied by the use of a single element: the line. The YUU clock, “Luna”, takes up the symbol of the circle, of the curve, the dot, the centre, the yin and the yang, the alpha and the omega. “Luna” just as YUU, adapts itself to everyone's tastes since it is readily modifiable. It can change colour and texture. The user of the object is also his/her creator.

This is why I wanted a two-part object, a modifiable one and a stable one.

The yin and yang symbol – two shapes complementing each other – has impressed this idea on me. The Zen principle inhabiting YUU is therefore kept or diverted by the user who may choose to modify the clock. This plurality renders the object timeless (since it is transformable at will) and it also opens up market prospects for round YUU applications.
